Example of the merging process for a MODIS Aqua granule over the Sahel. (a) A true-color image and (b) the algorithms selected for each individual retrieval . (c–e) Deep Blue (DB), Dark Target (DT) land/ocean, and merged AOD, respectively. Regions in grey lack valid AOD retrievals.
We are pleased to announce the publication of a new paper detailing the Deep Blue aerosol data sets in the Journal of Geophysical Research. The paper includes a validation and three-way comparison between MODIS Collection 6 Deep Blue, Dark Target, and AERONET data. The new 'merged' Deep Blue/Dark Target data set, provided within the Collection 6 data products, is also introduced. Note the analysis deals with MODIS Aqua data only.
